Exmortus Unveils New Song in Conjunction with Tour Kickoff

To celebrate the kickoff of their tour alongside guitar legend Marty Friedman, the California-based extreme shred quartet EXMORTUS premiered a new song, “For The Horde,” on Sirius/XM’s “Liquid Metal” last week. The song is now available for download on BandcampAmazon and iTunes. You can also stream it on Spotify or via the lyric video below.

“For The Horde” will also soon be released as a limited-edition 7-inch, which will feature an exclusive cover of Yngwie Malmsteen’s “As Above, So Below” as its B-side. Pre-order it now! The artwork, shown above, was contributed by Cyril van der Haegen, who also designed the cover art for the group’s sold-out 2013 7-inch, “Immortality Made Flesh.”
“For The Horde” is the first taste of EXMORTUS‘ new album, the follow-up to 2014’s “Slave To The Sword,” which was praised by Revolver as “an impressive blend of thundering melo-death and acrobatic power metal.” Tracked over the summer with Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Immolation), the new album — the group’s first with new bassist Michael Cosio (ex-Abysmal Dawn) — is expected to be released in January. More information about the recording will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Described as “a blistering blend of European-influenced, neo-classical thrash metal” (LA Weekly), EXMORTUS have toured relentlessly alongside the likes of Flotsam & Jetsam, Kyng, Destruction, Dark Tranquillity, Krisiun and Hatchet along with appearances on national television (via a commercial for Virgin Mobile), at a minor league baseball game (where they performed a shred-tastic rendition of the National Anthem) and at a recent LA Kiss Arena Football game, during which they performed live. The group will tour alongside Friedman through Oct. 3 and then return to the road alongside Enforcer and Warbringer in January. See below for dates.
