Gallery and Review: Pennywise at House Of Vans Brooklyn, New York 8/10/18

With the summer coming to a close unfortunately after a strong eight year run so is the iconic House of Vans in Brooklyn New York, and on Friday night it was host to Orange County’s legendary punk band Pennywise. The band  has been a staple not only in punk music, and skateboarding but as well on the Vans Warped Tour which coincidentally has just wrapped up its final year as well. For most fans this would be their last show they would attend at House of Vans and honestly I couldn’t think of better band to say farewell with. As Pennywise opened their set with “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” you could immediately feel the crowds intensity from behind the barrier inside the photo pit as the entire 25,000 square foot warehouse packed with fans erupted. After  “Can’t Believe It” lead frontman Jim Lindberg reached out asking the photographers in the pit to lend him a camera, as I was quick to respond with handing over one of mine to Jim as he went from side to side on the stage snapping photos of the packed crowd before going into “Peaceful Day”. Pennywise continued to stomp the stage with a few more fan favs before going into a few iconic covers which consisted of the Ramones “Blitzkrieg Bop” Circle Jerks “Wild in the Streets” and a very fitting Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right To Party“. Before continuing on with the last two songs of the set the band brought out Vans owner Steve Van Doren to the stage to thank Steve for everything he has done over the years and for his constant support for not only Pennywise but music and skateboarding in general and went into the bands self titled “Pennywise”. along with Steve Van Doren himself the band also brought fans from the crowd to stage to close out the set with “Society” and putting one hell of a closing to the House of Vans House Parties in true punk fashion.
