Alt Rock Quartet Approaching Troy Unveil Dynamic Single “Wake Up”

Sounding like a cross between The Used and Glassjaw, Approaching Troy is set to unleash their latest sonic endeavor. The quartet combines post-hardcore and pop-punk elements to create something fresh while channeling the raw energy of acts like The Used, Taking Back Sunday and Glassjaw. As the band gears up to release their Best Intentions on August 19, Approaching Troy is eager to reveal their first single from the project – a song that complements the fierce vibe of summer and sets the tone for what’s to come.

“”Wake Up” was so much fun to record – we really tried to push the boundaries on the creation of this song. We wrote parts that borrowed from other genres, threw in effects we never thought of using before, used instruments we never thought to utilize, and really played around with it as much as possible. We tried not to be confined to just one sound, and in return we created something we felt was our best effort to date.” – Jake S. (lead singer, Approaching Troy)

As the first single from their forthcoming EP, “Wake Up” is the best reflection of how the group has grown since their last release (2015’s Dear Sadie). With a hometown performance scheduled for August 19, the guys are determined to build as much momentum as they can – and with songs like “Wake Up,” it won’t be a challenge.

Upcoming Shows:
August 19 – Patchogue, NY @ 89 North (Best Intentions EP Release Show)

About the Band:
Approaching Troy is a Pop-punk/Post-hardcore Alternative Rock band with big plans to make their mark on the historic rock scene of their native Long Island and beyond. Listeners can hear the faint echoes of predecessors Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, Bayside and Brand New being reborn through Approaching Troy’s creativity and flair for broadening horizons. The reaction from their loyal fans at live shows and the excitement over their first EP, Dear Sadie, is only the beginning.

Since their formation, the band has played numerous shows to adoring fans in the NYC/LI area and has opened up for legends of their genre like Hawthorne Heights, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Patent Pending and The Ataris. Their new EP, Best Intentions, is set to release in August of 2016 and stretches the boundaries of an even more mature sound for the band. Approaching Troy’s mission is simple: Take the band to new heights and new territories, one exciting live show at a time.
