Music Existence Because of Music, We Exist
Lital Hagayan is an Israeli singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in Tel Aviv. On August 4th, Hagayan released her debut full-length album, Singularity, which takes stylistic cues from a wide range of influences, from shoegaze and psychedelic to progressive rock and electronic music. Thematically speaking, the album centers around her journey to heal from an especially bleak and devastating period of her life, each track written sequentially according to how the incident unfolded.
Throughout our interview, alongside our discussion of the album’s schematics, we also highlight her initial exposure to Israeli music as compared with that of American and British music, the important people who shaped her formative years, and her takeaways from working with likeminded musical peers.
