Interview With Darro

When did you first know you wanted to become a musical artist? What was the first song you ever wrote?

When I was in high school. Basically the moment I learned how to play a My Chemical Romance song it was over. I would fantasize about playing pop punk songs on stage and it sort of stuck with me every stage of my life.

The first song I ever wrote? Oh gosh, it was a really really bad cheesy love song for my girlfriend at the time, very Plain White T’s-esque. I’m sure I have a recording of it somewhere but it will never see the light of day.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

It’s constantly changing, but currently I would have to say (in no particular order):

-Paramore

-Chon

-Dance Gavin Dance

-nothing,nowhere

-Story of the Year

What’s in your iPhone this week?

-Juice WRLD RIP

How’s the music scene in your locale?

It used to be bustling! But ever since COVID hit I honestly haven’t been to a single show. There are shows happening again but for one I’m still a little scared because of the new variant, and two, my work schedule is like murdering me.

What do you like most about playing live?

The freedom. You can do anything on stage and it’ll be a completely unique experience every single time. There’s a level of energy that you can’t get anywhere else and it’s very addicting.

Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

I actually have a brand new album done for 2022, and there’s one track on it that’s absolutely my favorite. I have no idea when you’ll hear it but it sounds like easycore + nu-punk + emo rap.

What’s the best concert you’ve been to?

It’s a tie between Paramore (After Laughter Tour) or Vulfpeck at MSG

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

Hayley Williams I think. Yes, Hayley for sure.

What are your goals for the future?

We have a TON of NEW MUSIC for 2022. So for 2022 we’re going to be dropping at least 6 new songs, and touring! After that, it remains to be seen 🙂
