Interview with Tracee Perrin

Big welcome to our guest musical talent Tracee Perrin. We are so excited to learn more about you! Give us the highlight reel on how you arrived here in music!

I have always been a singer and performer, whether in a High School show choir, a collegiate a cappella group or pursuing musical theater in NYC.  Towards the end of my tenure in NYC, I auditioned for a singer’s showcase that turned out to be a songwriting workshop and I absolutely loved it.  When my husband and I moved back to L.A. I started learning to play guitar and attending more songwriting workshops. When I first started playing shows in L.A. I didn’t really have any of my own songs and I was still new at playing guitar so I hired a band to play cover songs with me. I continued to develop my guitar skills, work on my writing, attend workshops and it grew from there!

We are so excited about your release “Poison in the Water” Your voice is spectacular and this song feels just meant for you. Did you write it? If so, tell us more about that.

Thank you! I’m excited as well. I co-wrote “Poison in the Water” with Sam Gyllenhaal. It is the first song he and I have written together and I’m super proud of it! I had the title and bit of a melody idea I had been playing around with and, simultaneously, had been wanting to write with Sam for a few years. So, we got together and brought it to life

What is your favorite thing about doing music? Writing,Creative,Performing etc and why?

Though it’s never without nerves, I absolutely love performing live and being able to connect with an audience. That said, I do love the feeling when all the right pieces start falling into place while writing a new song. When that happens I sometimes get blinders and obsess until it’s done.

What is the best advice you have been given in your career that you would share with us?

Some of the most important things I have gleaned in my journey so far is to have clarity of purpose, protect your mindset and be yourself.

Other than your own – tell us your favorite song released this year so far and why.

Hmm, it depends on my mood.

If I need a feel good groove then it’s “Medal” by Emily King, which came out in 2023, but it’s early in 2024 so…

If I just wanna be in my feelings then right now it’s “Don’t Do Me Good” by Madi Diaz featuring Kasey Musgraves.

Share with everyone where they can find your new music and follow along on socials.
