INARA GEORGE Premieres “Release Me”

Inara George, of The Bird and The Bee fame, has unveiled “Release Me,” her latest single from Dearest Everybody, the upcoming album produced by Mike Andrews and out January 19, 2018 via Release Me Records. Featuring heartbreakingly expressive vocals and a soft, consoling rhythm, “Release Me” explores the transformative power of grief from the perspective of her mother. The track’s story takes center-stage as it recounts her mother’s delicate plea for closure, tenderly articulating the inexpressible emotions left behind in the wake of her husband’s death; Inara’s father, Lowell George of Little FeatPRESS HERE to listen to “Release Me,” premiered via The Bluegrass Situation.

“I wrote this song as a gift to my mother on her 70th birthday,” explains Inara. “I’d assumed that the song was too personal to put on my record. It’s a sort of love song to my father from my mother. But when I played it for my producer, Mike Andrews, he said we definitely had to record it. I’m very happy we did. I’m not sure I’ve ever shared such a personal song with the world. There’s something very liberating about it.”

Release Me” follows on the heels of “Young Adult” from Dearest Everybody, Inara’s first solo album since the release of Accidental Experimental in 2009. Inara, who is one half of The Bird and The Bee (her collaboration with Grammy-winning producer, singer, and instrumentalist Greg Kurstin) and a member of the Living Sisters, was recently featured on Foo Fighter’sDirty Water” and Superfruit’s “Everything,” which she co-wrote for their debut album Future Friends. This summer, Inaraalso performed alongside that dog. at Riotfest and duetted with Shirley Manson and Garbage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
