Gallery & Review: VOLBEAT at Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn, NY 08.08.16

Danish rockers VOLBEAT kicked off their tour with Killswitch Engage at the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk. VOLBEAT fans packed into the amphitheater in the near 100 degree temperatures, which didn’t stop them one bit. The band was on fire, packing in a near two hour set full of old material and new alike, including songs from the latest release Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie.

The set started with their new hit single The Devil’s Bleeding Crown. As soon as the curtain covering the stage dropped, the fans in attendance went ballistic. By the time Michael Poulsen was singing A Warrior’s Call, the crowd had evolved into a sea of fist pumps, accompanied by voices singing the song word for word.

VOLBEAT is one of the highest energy shows that you’ll ever get to see. From watching guitarist Rob Caggiano glide across stage playing his signature ESP guitar, to watching Michael Poulsen sing his heart out – It’s everything you’ll imagine it to be and more.

Right before the encore, VOLBEAT invited their friend Jerry Only of the Misfits out on stage to perform a cover of Angelfuck. This put the show over the bar for everyone in attendance, as this is something you won’t see at any other VOLBEAT show.

VOLBEAT ended the night with a four song encore, yes four songs! The encore included Black Rose, Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood, Seal the Deal and Still Counting. If you’re fan who is not digging the new album entirely (I know you’re out there), do yourself a favor… go see VOLBEAT live. Watch them perform the new material and let it soak in to your soul. You’ll be hooked instantly and want more of it. If you’ve never seen VOLBEAT live before, what are you doing?! You need to get up and get a ticket to show near you – it will be worth any drive you have to do to make it to the show. Until next time, horns up!
