Jagwar Twin releases surreal music video for viral hit, “Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)”

Back in December, prolific musician Roy English, who records under the name Jagwar Twin, released “Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)”, a single that went on to accumulate over 100 million streams worldwide and break multiple Billboard Alternative Rock Charts. English has sustained that momentum with a basic lyric visualizer for the song, which, despite its simplicity, earned nearly 11 and a half million views since its upload to YouTube last month.

Today, the Los Angeles, California-based singer-songwriter launches the accompanying music video for the song. The video, directed by Ukranian artist and filmmaker Ganna Bogdan, sees English as the ringleader of his own world, which is none other than the renowned LA Circus in Riverside, the ideal complement to his eccentric and eclectic influence scope. English said of the video’s purpose,

“I aimed to create something that transcends the everyday, a melody that invites introspection and challenges the listener to find depth in the mundane exploring.” He proceeded to comment on how this world reflects his Bowiesque alter-ego, adding,

“The whole world is kind of like the circus where no one really knows what’s up or down, left or right, black or white… so Ganna and I wanted to make sure that symbolism was in the video, especially as Jagwar Twin is all about exploring polarities and where they overlap.”

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
