Interview: Mark Daly discusses upcoming single “I Wanna Be More”, upcoming album ‘Devil’s Arms’

Mark Daly is an Irish singer/songwriter based in the United States, where his straight-from-the-gut bluesy rasp and equal fondness for melody and dirge has found a home. Daly’s first break came in 2011, when he and his band The Voodoos, who were previously part of Spain’s cover circuit and only had one EP of originals to their name, earned a highly coveted performance slot at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Since 2018, Daly has enjoyed demonstrable solo success, including a Scottish number one hit in “Your World”, and continued tours in support of big-name American artists ranging from Queensryche to Candlebox.

Daly is currently on a US tour in support of glam metal icons Mr. Big. This Friday, he will release “I Wanna Be More,” the lead single from his upcoming album Devil’s Arms. Ahead of its release, Daly came to Music Existence to discuss the tour, the single’s significance in relation to the album, while also touching upon his formative success as well as his journey in fatherhood.

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
