Single Review: Jim Huddleston “I’ll Be Gone”

It’s hard to know which of Jim Huddleston’s two releases this year to single out as the most impressive. He debute in the summer with his first single, “Go Away Joe” an impressive slice of modern country that reminded us that there’s plenty we still have to learn from the best country of the 80s. Now, with “I’ll Be Gone,” the first single from his “Gospel Outlaw” EP, Huddleston has taken a more traditional turn, coming through with a powerful and heartfelt Christian country/gospel track that showcases his soulful vocals and faith-driven lyrics.

“I’ll Be Gone” is a song that uses Jim’s journey to illustrate the enduring power of the American spirit and the importance of faith in difficult times. His lyrics are full of meaning, as he served in the military and has faced his own struggles along the way. It’s these experiences that inform his music and make it so relatable and heartfelt.

Musically, “I’ll Be Gone” is a fast-paced blend of country, folk, and bluegrass, with a wonderful banjo line soaring over the guitars, alongside captivating fiddle melodies. Huddleston’s voice is perfectly suited to the style of music, sounding incredibly catchy on the anthemic, singalong chorus. The toe-tapping energy of the song is sure to get your toes tapping along in no time, and the message of faith and perseverance is equally bound to resonate with anyone who’s ever faced their own struggles.

“I’ll Be Gone” is a testament to Huddleston’s talent as a singer-songwriter and his ability to create music that resonates with listeners on a deep, emotional level. It’s a song that not only entertains but also inspires, reminding us of the power of faith and perseverance. If “I’ll Be Gone” is any indication, the full Gospel Outlaw EP is an incredible release from an artist who’s quickly establishing himself as a major force in country and gospel music.
