Hold on to your flamethrowers – the Austin, TX hard rock band, Resisting Vegas, has released a “The Thing” inspired music video for their latest single, “Assimilation”. Complete with monster animatronics, raging firepower, and practical 80’s-horror effects; “Assimilation” pays proper homage to John’s Carpenter’s 1982 “The Thing”.
The lyrics of “Assimilation” are based from the creature’s point of view: cold, calculating, and hellbent on conquering nearby lifeforms. The music of “Assimilation” takes inspiration from artists in the vein of Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, and Pantera. In the video, the band members play a team of scientists stationed at a quiet outpost in the cold Alaska wilderness. However, once the integrity of the station is compromised, all trust is eroded between them and they must fight to figure out who is still human and who is now an imposter.
Resisting Vegas’s “Assimilation” was directed by Travis Gallagher of Instant Crush Productions and is the fifth horror-themed music video in support of their recent album, “Malevolent”. For the official video link: https://youtu.be/rK1r2B6E0XE
