I Prevail Brings Thunderous New Album, ‘Trauma’ to Wellmont Theater, July 27

I Prevail, an innovator in the pop-punk/metalcore genre, is bringing its national “Trauma” tour to northern New Jersey’s premier concert venue, the Wellmont Theater, on Saturday, July 27. The tour is in support of the band’s thunderous sophomore album, “Trauma,” led by the oft-streamed “Breaking Down.”

The Gold-certified Michigan quartet – a pioneer in its genre, effortlessly blending metal, alternative, hip-hop and electronic moods – is touring for its 15-track opus; meanwhile, the group is nearing half-a-billion streams, 115 million YouTube views and has eclipsed the 500,000-albums-sold mark. The new album, which soared to No. 14 on the Billboard 200 chart, features instantly identifiable lyrical/musical craft.

The boundary-pushing sophomore effort comes after the band burst onto the scene with a 2014 EP entitled “Heart vs. Mind.” The EP reached the Top 100 on the Billboard charts. I Prevail also released its take on Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” in 2014, which quickly earned more notoriety.

Following those efforts, I Prevail launched its first studio album, “Lifelines,” in 2016. That record, too, climbed the charts, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard 200 (led by the single “Scars”).

I Prevail singer Brian Burkheiser then experienced a serious setback – a debilitating vocal injury which left him sequestered during an intense physical and mental recovery process. Nevertheless, Burkheiser prevailed and the quartet emerged unscathed. Their new album was born after a 10-month in-studio process behind producer Tyler Smith.

The well-received effort, with other tracks including “Bow Down” and “Paranoid,” features genre-bending vocals and guitar tracks. The spirited effort has helped pave the way for rock’s future – both in the near-term and its wider growth.

Their lineup includes Burkheiser (clean vocals), Eric Vanlerberghe (harsh vocals), Steve Menoian (lead guitar) and Dylan Bowman (rhythm guitar).

The band’s Montclair, N.J. show on July 27 is a can’t-miss performance. For more information, head to: https://wellmonttheater.com/shows/i-prevail-the-trauma-tour/.
