Adam Ant brings the thunder (literally) to Asbury Park, NJ.

On Saturday July 21, Mr. Goody Two Shoes himself, Adam Ant was set to play the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ. Hurricane-like winds and extreme rain weren’t going to keep the most devoted of fans from attending his long awaited return to the east coast. While waiting in line to enter the theatre countless fans, many dressed in pirate hats, could be overheard talking enthusiastically about how amazing the previous night’s show in Morristown, NJ had been and just how how excited they were to see what he had in store for them for this night’s performance. With so many fans attending multiple shows on a single tour, it’s clear that even after all these years Adam Ant can still draw a die-hard crowd.

Ant’s current tour, titled “Anthems,” has a set-list sure to please any fan. The songs highlight a career spanning 40 years; include selections from both his Adam and the Ants, and solo performance era.

Charging the stage with the strength and ferocity of the very storm pummeling the venue; Ant appeared clad head to toe in black leather. His God-like presence commanded the attention of each and every person in the venue. With each song, fans grew increasingly rowdy. His impassioned performance sent fans into a frenzied trance, to where pretty much everyone was dancing in the aisles of the seated theatre. Security desperately scrambled to usher fans back into their seats, but despite this, for the nearly two hour set the crowd stood to full attention as Adam and his band delivered unto to them each song like it was their last performance on earth.

If you haven’t seen an Adam Ant show before, we implore you to mark your calendars, take some friends and go have a night you’ll never forget.
