Meet Hey Monea’s “Ghetto Family” in their Sitcom-Inspired Music Video

Cleveland’s American Rock band Hey Monea recently dropped their newest album The Fifty via Noble Steed Music. Today, the band is proud to unveil the official music video for “Ghetto Family” exclusively with AXS.com. The video for “Ghetto Family” pays homage to the cheesy sitcom credits of the 70’s, introducing the cast of characters with a a title card and a zany antic followed by a ridiculous reaction shot.

“We see our friends and family from our hometown of Canton, Ohio as a lovable ragtag group of rascals that would feel right at home in a broadcast comedy from that era, and the video is an attempt to see what our world would look like if it were a fictionalized television version of itself. It also serves as an unabashed love letter to the downtown arts district of Canton, Ohio — our own little oasis of creativity in the Midwest.” – Nate Monea

Hey Monea has shared the stage with many of their musical heroes: ranging from the Bare Naked Ladies and the Goo Goo Dolls to the Doobie Brothers, Lady Antebellum, and Kid Rock. These influences resonate deeply in their music and was captured efficiently by legendary Grammy winning producer Dennis Herring (Counting Crows, Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse) on the bands’ major label debut, Cheap Souvenirs, in late 2013. Hey Monea’s latest album The Fifty is available now to stream on Spotify and for purchase on iTunes through independent imprint Noble Steed Music, and the band intends to tour with all of the enthusiasm reflected on this new, youthful batch of recordings.
