In A Perfect Sky is an acoustic emo band from Wilkes-Barre, PA. The band consists of Gerry Tulao on lead vocals and guitar and Jon Labenski on percussion. Influences include bands such as Dashboard Confessional, This Wild Life, Yellowcard and Secondhand Serenade.
Prior to the formation of IAPS, Gerry and Jon previously played in other bands. This ranged from pop punk bands to cover bands. Wanting to try something new Gerry decided to start a project that was more acoustic and melodic and recruited Jon to play drums. Together, the two strive to write and play music that everyone can sing along to when times feel rough.
So far the duo released their first single, Summer Heat, in June 2023. The song set the tone for how IAPS approaches their unique sound of acoustic tones with catchy emo melodies. The bands second single, Lucky Charm, goes a bit more upbeat and showcases an almost storytelling style of songwriting with lyrics dealing with finding hope in a dark time. The band is currently prepping a third single as well as a debut EP.
The band strives to continue writing music and touring more. Their biggest dream is to tour and make new fans along the way.
“This song was actually the quickest song I wrote. Everything came together so naturally and I knew it was something special and had to record and release it. The song is about finding hope in a dark time. When all things seem to fail you look at that one thing you can hold on to. I hope people can hear the song and realize that everyone has that one lucky charm that keeps them going. 2. We are currently finalizing our debut EP. Very excited for people to hear. 3. The music video was filmed at Loyalty Barber Shop in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The barbershop used to be a cool punk rock venue called Cafe Metro. I never got to play there. This music video was kinda my way of finally performing there. Sarah Novroski of Novro Studios filmed the video. In my previous band we did a music video with her and she is phenomenal! Knew I had to work with her again. 4. Being our second single after Summer Heat, we wish to keep the ball rolling on new music releases.
