EP Review: HeIsTheArtist “Dreaming in Emerald City”

HeIsTheArtist’s latest EP, “Dreaming in Emerald City” is an eclectic collection of Broadway-style Neo-Soul with a contemporary twist. Taking influence from legendary movies “The Wizard of Oz” and “The West Side Story,” HeIsTheArtist crafts an EP full of both covers and original songs that are sure to inspire and captivate listeners.

The collection kicks off with a beautiful cover of Judy Garland’s “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows,” with Heistheartist’s smooth and soulful vocals soaring effortlessly over a lush and vibrant production. This is followed by his original song “Mi Amor” – a gorgeous homage to “The Wizard of Oz” and “The West Side Story” that also encourages listeners to show empathy towards those with a desire for something better.

Themes of love and hope run through the EP, as Heistheartist tackles covers of Minnie Riperton’s “Lovin’You” and Whitney Houston’s “I Believe in You and Me.” The anthemic covers of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and India.Arie’s “Brown Skin” also remind listeners to love themselves regardless of societal standards.

Overall, HeIsTheArtist’s “Dreaming in Emerald City” is an uplifting and inspiring EP that is sure to speak to the hearts of many. With its lush production, soulful vocals, and themes of love and hope, this EP is sure to be a hit with fans of Neo-Soul and R&B alike.
