Greta Van Fleet release new single in an ode to their signature fashion

Today Greta Van Fleet have released their fashionable new single, “Sacred The Thread,” lifted off their forthcoming third studio album, Starcatcher. The new track is the second single to arrive from the record, slated for release on July 21 via Lava/Republic/EMI Records.

Following last month’s debut of “Meeting The Master,”  the new track continues their anthemic rock narrative in the form of a personal ode to frontman Josh Kiszka’s penchant for glamorous stage attire. Never one to away from theatrics, Kiszka frequently adorns eye-catching jumpsuits, intricately embroidered with icons of the band’s symbolism, sequins, sparkles, and other ceremonious fashions.

In an official press release for the single, Kiszka elaborates: “I always like to think that some people’s first impression of Greta Van Fleet in concert is, ‘Wow, these guys really like dressing to the left and blowing shit up, this song is particularly important to me because it’s about my jumpsuits.”

With lyrics that read, “The sequins tripping on the light / Woah / I feel it hugging me so tight’ and I see me / Through colors gems and trim / Unraveled / The glow that was once dim,” Greta Van Fleet have artfully summarized the band’s visual aesthetic in conjunction with their overall philosophy. While classic rock motifs and spectacles are intrinsic to the four-piece, it is also their ability to create a universe within their music and shape-shift with ease that has set them apart.

Opening with the hollow echo of Danny Wagner on the drum kit, the song explodes into a full-bodied rock opus than shines with Josh Kiszka’s superb vocals and tight playing from Jake Kiszka on guitar and Sam Kiszka on bass. Majestic in sound and composition, “Sacred The Thread” perfectly compliments the sentiment it was written for.

Lead guitarist Jake Kizska further explained in the statement, “We didn’t really have to force or be intense about writing, because everything that happened was very instinctual. If anything, the record is our perspective, and sums up where we are as a group and individually as musicians.”

The upcoming album was recorded at RCA Studios in Nashville with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Rival Sons) and finds the band exploring “the duality of fantasy versus reality and the contrast between light and darkness.”

Fans will get the chance to experience Greta Van Fleet’s full, glamorous ensemble as the band embark on their Starcatcher World Tour this summer. Surely, with a lavish wardrobe of jumpsuits and glitter.
