This is a selection of songs that draws on her childhood, and growing up having to survive an alcoholic and abusive environment. From ¨Queen (of the barstool two-step)” and “Treat me Right,” O´Neil explores the issues of loneliness and isolation. The song ¨Daddy´s Pride” is a darker song which explores this theme further.
Throughout the album, the songs blend New Americana with folk rock and an alternative pop feel. O´Neil´s storytelling is sincere and authentic, the music is roots inspired. There is a deep sense of coming to her own in the album.
“I finished the songs I had started,” shares Randie. “‘Treat Me Right’ was just not coming together for a while but I was able to really actually just get into a groove and it came together. ‘Queen (of the barstool two-step)’ explores loneliness in that going out to bars is what people do not to feel lonely and isolated. We couldn´t do that anymore but I wanted to explore that experience. Your put on your Best jeans, some lipstick and go out on the town to try and connect on some level.”
While O´Neill has been releasing songs for many years, ‘Full Moon Rising’ finally brings the artist´s life experiences to fullness in an upbeat and very relatable way.
Her influences include artists like Pat Benatar, Melissa Etheridge, Fleetwood Mac and Dolly Parton.
