Iconic sister-act Aly & AJ brought their A Touch of the Beat tour to an enthusiastic San Francisco audience earlier this month. The duo, who started performing together during their time on The Disney Channel in the early 2000s, have returned in recent years with a more mature, polished style and sound. The crowd, many of whom grew up alongside the siblings, were as excited for early classics like “Chemicals React” as they were for newer favorites “Pretty Places” and “Symptom of Your Touch.” Of course, the indisputable favorite of the night was “Potential Breakup Song,” which had the entire venue on its feet, singing along to every word.

Notably, the show came just days after the mass shooting in Sacramento, which occurred just outside the venue on the pair’s first night of tour. AJ recounted their lockdown in the venue and led a moment of silence for the victims. Later in the night, Aly shared the pair’s partnership with an anti-gun violence organization. Audience members who donated were entered for a chance to meet the pair backstage after the show. Though still shaken from the events, the sisters were clearly committed to giving San Francisco a memorable show. With years of professional experience and a lifetime of sisterhood behind them, Aly & AJ remain as undeniably and infectiously joyful as ever.
