Nolo Grace Drops New Single, “Winter Blue”

Today, singer/songwriter Nolo Grace has unveiled “Winter Blue,” her fifth single release to date. Having debuted amidst the dizzying height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Grace gained considerable traction with her first single, “Wake Up,” featuring hip-hop icon Sean Kingston, and has since kept a steady momentum with further material. Her blend of ethereal synths, smooth lyrical wit, and bass-oriented beats is not only distinctive, but characteristic of her enduring presence in modern pop.

“Winter Blue” represents Grace’s pandemic-based routine of waking up at sunrise, and making daily beats through her Ableton Push controller. This level of consistency has allowed her to both refine and expand the presentation of this single, which was solidified through mixing by Martin Wave and mastering by Hector Vega. From a thematic standpoint, the song centers around her feeling constantly low, and subsequently recognizing that her particular state of mind was not entirely due to the inevitable circumstance of the pandemic, but the feelings and emotions of her inner-self. Through the power of choice, she is now able to confidently brave bouts of previously-crippling discontentment, and ultimately improve her outlook.

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
