HeIsTheArtist is back with his distinct brand of relaxing, downtempo music. This time, taking on another classic – ‘Lovin’ You’ by vocal legend Minnie Ripperton, HeIsTheArtist manages to capture his unique take on the song, injecting different vocal stylings and riffs, and the strum of a chilled-out, stripped back guitar to take listeners through a journey of relaxation, meditation and rest. HeIsTheArtist’s cover of ‘Lovin’ You’ won’t be for everyone – especially because the classic is engrained in so many music lovers’ minds (the lyrics “Lovin’ you is easy ‘cause you’re beautiful/Makin’ love with you is all I wanna do/Lovin’ you is more than just a dream come true/And everything that I do is out of lovin’ you”’ are surely firmly planted in any music listener that was alive when the original was released). It really is just that much of a classic, that it can be difficult to imagine anyone else singing the iconic song. However, HeIsTheArtist takes a different route and doesn’t try to outdo the original – instead, he focuses on crafting something that hardly anyone else will be able to craft. As always with HeIsTheArtist’s songs, an absolute highlight is that beautiful, crystal-clear guitar that waltzes through the song so effortlessly.
