Single Review: “Live Like You Love” Ashley Puckett

A Twin Peaks style tremolo guitar opens Ashley Puckett’s sultry single, ‘Live Like You Love’. Brooding verses sway with a subtle rhythmic swing, expanding into panoramic choruses. A gorgeous and unexpected chord change supports the title lyric, driven by arena size drums, shimmering guitars and delicate, evolving vocal harmonies. Puckett delivers her message with sincerity: ’Held my hand when I wasn’t proud, helped me stand when I hit the ground, showed me that my own heart is wise beyond my fears’. Clever linguistic techniques bring a distinctive character to the song, with a restrained country tone pervading its pure pop sensibilities. ‘Live Like You Love’ is a definite winner, and a ‘cigarette lighter’ moment for live shows.
