Show Review: Tremonti at Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal 07.13.18

Friday, July 13, known as World Day of Rock. Also the day that brought Tremonti back to Portugal and I could not think of a better way to celebrate the date.

Currently on tour in support of Iron Maiden, Tremonti rolled out a heavy hitting compilation of his most popular songs from his debut album All I Was to latest concept album A Dying Machine.

The energetic set started with “Radical Change” from the album Cauterize bringing along Mark Tremonti’s impressive riffs. Being one of the most reputable members of Alter Bridge, I bet there were many melted faces by the end of the show, as I imagine not everyone was aware of how powerful and solid Mark Tremonti is as a front man.

Supported by Eric Friedman on guitars, Tanner Keegan in the bass and the amazing Garrett Whitlock on drums, it did not take too long for the band to ignite the first rows.

Friedman it is the perfect wingman and his energy is contagious, to everyone around. The same can be said about Keegan, playing and jumping around the stage during the whole set. Whitlock is a beast on drums and so committed that minds are blown just by watching him hit those drums.

In a short time, the audience is captivated by a strong performance. MarkTremonti riffs paired with melodic chords are the reason why this band sounds so unique.

With a choice of their most powerful songs like “Catching Fire” and “Wish You Well” at the end, the set was a perfect introduction to the band for a previously untapped audience. On the other hand, there were a few Tremonti fans in the audience that would have loved to hear more than the short 50 minute set.

The new songs like “Throw them to the Lions” or “A Dying Machine” sounded amazing live and are really a testament to how much Mark Tremonti has grown up as a singer. His voice sounds brighter, stronger and more solid than ever.

By the amount of people buying Tremonti merchandise at the end of the show, it is clear he won some metal hearts that night.

In a traditional day of bad luck, we were fortunate to have this band back in Portugal and hope they do not take too long to come back.

Tremonti is currently on tour in Europe as Iron Maiden special guests and with “A Dying Machine Tour”.
