Don Broco’s “Disappear”: Genre-Bending Emotion with Arena Ambition

Every once in a while, a band comes along that refuses to play it safe, and in 2025, Don Broco are proving again that they’re one of those bands. Their new single “Disappear” is a hard-hitting reminder that modern rock still has teeth, heart, and the guts to take chances. Produced by Dan Lancaster—whose fingerprints are on records by Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, and 5 Seconds of Summer—this track finds the Bedford, UK quartet stepping deeper into the hybrid territory they’ve been carving for over a decade.

From the very first seconds, “Disappear” feels different. Hypnotic chants open the track, and instead of sliding into a predictable riff, we get pulsing, heartbeat-like drums that build tension. Rob Damiani’s vocals weave in delicately at first, before stretching into soaring melodies that capture the desperation behind the lyrics. And those lyrics hit hard: this is about the impossible guilt of leaving someone you love at rock bottom because staying might destroy you both. Heavy subject matter, but paired with music that’s both anthemic and experimental, it connects on multiple levels.

Musically, Don Broco don’t stick to one lane. Rock, electronic textures, even a drum & bass-inspired breakdown—there’s no shortage of sonic variety here. What impresses me is how natural the transitions feel. These aren’t gimmicks thrown in to spice up the arrangement; it’s all part of the journey of the song. That middle section in particular, with its fast-paced electronic percussion, feels like the sound of anxiety itself. Then, just as quickly, the band pulls you back into big choruses and layered guitars. It’s dynamic, and it’s built for both headphones and arenas.

For longtime fans, “Disappear” shows another side of the band’s fearless approach. Earlier this year, “Cellophane” came at us with nu-metal aggression, and “Hype Man” leaned into rap-rock swagger and high-energy bravado. With “Disappear,” they’ve stripped away the tough exterior and gone for something more vulnerable and emotionally raw. That’s an important step for a rock band trying to build a global legacy—it shows they can deliver the heavy, the fun, and the deeply personal all in the same breath.

Live, this one’s going to be a moment. You can picture the crowd at Wembley or on the U.S. tour dates: lights down, chants echoing, everyone’s heart syncing to that opening pulse. And when Damiani belts out those choruses, you know it’ll be the kind of cathartic release fans show up for. Don Broco’s reputation as a must-see live act is already solid, but songs like this prove they’re not done growing.

At a time when rock sometimes feels divided between nostalgia acts and niche experiments, Don Broco are staking their claim as the rare band who can bridge the gap. “Disappear” isn’t afraid to be innovative, but it’s also not afraid to be huge. It’s modern alt-rock with ambition, and it leaves no doubt: Don Broco are here to stay, and they’re just getting started.
