Interview: Justin Taylor of Alborn discusses upcoming EP, Push

Alborn is an emerging quartet based in Sterling, Illinois. Releasing their debut EP, Impairative, five months into the pandemic, the band’s brand of brooding nu metal melodies and grunge-influenced harmonies managed an impact despite rapidly changing times. Now armed with a solid follow-up single, “Push”, out since last week, and an eponymous EP release slated for February 24th, the band will proceed to play a pair of midwestern dates before embarking on a national tour in the beginning of March alongside Powerman 5000.

I caught up with Alborn frontman Justin Taylor to discuss his formative efforts, the new EP, the upcoming tour, as well as reflecting on the band’s growth thus far.

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
