Single Review: Ayrton Jimenez – “Before Tomorrow Comes”

It takes a lot to make music that sets itself apart from the crowd. Not following the trends distinguishes an artist but also means they’re at risk of being swept away from the public conscience. Only truly exceptional artists can ride the wave all the way through on their own niche, and Ayrton Jimenez wants to achieve exactly that with his new single, “Before Tomorrow Comes.”

As a singer-songwriter who’s been honing his craft, Ayrton has been in the game for a long while now, and it shows. He’s skilled in both English and Spanish songwriting and has been performing and recording music in Argentina for a long time. The culmination of all this experience and skill is “Before Tomorrow Comes,” a single that truly showcases all of the artist’s strengths.

“Before Tomorrow Comes” is a soulful and personal ballad flanked by Ayrton’s own flamenco guitar riffs. The gentle flow of the guitar playing the song’s main melody is soft and inviting but also surprisingly melancholic. A ton of emotion is packed into the instruments themselves, which is a testament to Ayrton’s near virtuoso proficiency with his instrument.

Going along with this is Ayrton’s singing and songwriting, both of which are simply top-notch stuff. When it comes to the singer’s vocal performance, there is literally nothing to complain about. The emotional gravitas and longing that comes through are rich and compelling. The listener gets effortlessly swept up in the wave of emotions that makes up the bulk of the song’s story.

Of course, good vocal performances are nothing without solid songwriting backing them up, and here Ayrton’s talents also shine through. Every line is written poetically, making for an excellent flow. What’s really special, however, is how lyrics paint vivid images in the listener’s mind. Lines such as “the trees, they sway with the sounds, they twirl and they bow before tomorrow comes…” are pure artistry put into words, working incredibly well with the singer’s vocals.

That’s not to mention how half the song is written purely in Spanish but still managed to hit all the emotional high notes you’d come to expect from the first half. Even the sound mixing and production are immaculate, with not a single blemish to be found anywhere. “Before Tomorrow Comes” is an excellent example of talent, skill, and experience coming together beautifully.

Ayrton Jimenez has an outstanding killer of a single in “Before Tomorrow Comes,” with its emotional turns and idyllic atmosphere. It’s a single that most singers would kill to have and one that we can easily recommend to just about anyone, even tangentially interested in Spanish-tinged ballads. We’re looking forward to what else the artist has in store for the future.
