MERLIN’s Well-Crafted Mix of Ingredients in New Song, “Recipe”

“Sugar and spice and everything nice”, the phrase comes from a poem written over 200 years ago. The poem asserts the differences between boys and girls and states that “sugar and spice and everything nice” is what “girls are made of”.

MERLIN takes a different approach to this common saying in her new song “Recipe” and flips the page on what a girl is supposed to be. She says. “Know what I need, I won’t tell you twice”. With this empowering song, MERLIN breaks the “everything nice” stereotype and speaks up for herself as a woman who knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to take the lead to get it.

“I think this track is crucial to my growth as an artist and as a woman.” confesses Merlin. “Artists like Lil’ Kim, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and so many more have shaped and constantly challenge the status quo in a male-dominated industry. They embody an unapologetic and authentic version of themselves and use their craft to expand on their identities. That was my goal.”

The pop beat to “Recipe” calls listeners to attention with its danceable tune. By mixing empowering lyrics with MERLIN’s strong voice and a consistent, addictive beat, MERLIN creates a recipe sure to satisfy out of her newest release. Check out more! @thisisMERLIN13 on all social media platforms.
