Florence + the Machine Announces New Album ‘Dance Fever’ & Drops New Song

Florence + the Machine continues to craft her grand return with the announcement of Dance Fever, her 5th studio album which is set to hit shelves May 13th via Polydor Records. Recorded in London over the course of the pandemic, the album is said to be inspired by everyone from Emmylou Harris to Lucinda Williams and even Iggy Pop. The influences are wide-ranging but reflective of the current tracks already released, like the anthemic female battle cry, “King” or the Celtic foot-stomper “Heaven Is Here.”

Today arrives “My Love,” which gives fans a break from deep-rooted emotional context of her previous two singles and provides us with nothing more than a much needed dance party. Sonically inspired by an early 2000s club banger, the track layers classic Florence + the Machine vocal harmonies atop the electronic twists of a previous generation. It’s an enchanting take on dance music and one that will surely translate beautifully live on stage.

Along with her previous two releases, the new video for “My Love” was filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine late last year. Welch informed her followers that two of her dancers were currently sheltering from Russian troops and encouraged fans to support Ukrainians via the International Rescue Committee.
