Jingle Bells – Thelen Creative

A Unique Take on a Holiday Classic.
Thelen Creatives’ country influenced holiday track, “Jingle Bells” is a derivative cover of the 1857 composition “The One Horse Open Sleigh,” originally created by James Lord Pierpont and first recorded in 1889. Thelen Creatives’ interesting arrangement and sound production puts a more ominous twist on the usually festive piece.

“Jingle Bells” was originally titled “One Horse Open Sleigh” and was composed using fragments from various poems and songs of the day celebrating the traditional Thanksgiving holiday sleigh races held across Massachusetts during the 1850’s.

The song “Jingle Bells” was first recorded on wax cylinder in 1889, making it the first known recording of a Christmas song. The 1889 recording is lost to history but a 1898 recording by the Edison Male Quartette survives.
