Single Review: Sepsiss – “You Already Know”

Sepsiss is an award-winning metal band based in Manchester, New Hampshire, formed by Melissa Wolfe and William Savant. Active since 2010, the band gained a national following for their blend of classic riffing with modern synths, and a colorful visual presentation that accentuates those elements. Having come together during a peak of social media usage, Sepsiss also became known for their direct contact with fans, which they maintain to this day. Since gaining considerable traction with their 2020 full-length, Almost 11, led by hit single “The Swarm,” the band fittingly adopted the name “swarmies” for their fanbase.

Following the success of Almost 11, the band has returned with their current single, “You Already Know.” The song features a noticeably brighter and straightforward approach, with chugging guitars and slick drum rhythms comprising the majority of the instrumental involvement. While its riffs emit certain familiar nascence and are nonetheless present, there is a primarily vocal-driven focus. Wolfe takes the reins, while Savant comes in with subtle, but still impactful harmonic complements. It’s evident that the band is headed in a more melodic direction, and, in line with their original mission, continuing to unite fans across diverse listening backgrounds.

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
