Single Review: Marty Monaco – “Monaco Madness”

Marty Monaco is a hip hop artist based in Cleveland, Ohio. Currently signed to local independent label Myart Music Group, Monaco sustains a strong, consistent output since debuting in late 2018. Having gone into 2020 the release of the singles “Grandma’s Wig” and “Right Day Wrong One,” his recent single, “Monaco Madness,” marks a threefold milestone, being his first with an accompanying music video, his first to lead an upcoming EP (The Monte Carlo EP).

Monaco’s latest single continues his distinctive approach, exhibiting his ability to flex without coming across as too serious. While slightly less melody-driven than previous efforts, opting for a cool, yet biting tonality, it still drives the sentiment home, especially in the context of celebrating his newfound success. From a broader standpoint, the song not only represents the level Monaco has reached; it also acknowledges certain contentment, as well as the team that allowed him that path to where he currently stands.

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
