Single Review: Damon – “Hustle with a Purpose (ft. the Crush Boys)”

Washington, D.C.-based healthcare professional Damon Fletcher recently made his musical debut under the mononym Damon. Damon has teamed up with the Crush Boys for their inspirational single, “Hustle with A Purpose.”

The song kicks off with a somewhat snappy, tribal beat, which bolsters both chanted and sung vocals from Fletcher and the Crush Boys. As it progresses, I began to feel how much the song resonates, not only in the effectiveness of the delivery, but how strongly the hook factor in the electronic aspect complements the atmosphere of the cover art. However, the song’s accompanying music video works especially well in uniting the Fletcher family and friends alike, indicative of our current lifestyle brought about by Covid-19. Should this be a one-off project for the time, Damon leaves a solid imprint, and certainly has the potential to excel further.

About Jake Kussmaul

I come from a family who is passionate about all things music. I learned to sing at an early age, and by 13, had my very own Fender Strat guitar. I tried my hardest at learning all that I could. Because I was born with cerebral palsy, I had to teach myself an adaptive playing style. I learned to write and record my own music, despite these difficulties. In college, I started making great use of my writing abilities by reviewing music, as well as copy editing. I guess it's best to stick with what you know, while welcoming a fair challenge at the same time.
