Live Review + Gallery: Art Alexakis of Everclear at Space in Evanston, IL. 10.08.19

Everclear frontman, Art Alexakis, has set out on his own for a solo acoustic tour to celebrate the release of his first solo album, Sun Songs, that released on October 11, 2019. The album is a personal journey/expression for Art that touches on his recent diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, his love for his wife and daughter, and observations and thoughts about current events/politics.

The show on October 8thin Evanston, Illinois’ intimate Space theatre was a laid back, mellow affair consisting of 23 songs over two sets. The first set was comprised mostly of Everclear songs, with three of the new tunes mixed in. The second set was a Q+A session with song requests.

The evening was a treat for hardcore Everclear fans, who got to see Mr. Alexakis up close and personal, and a chance to interact with him, for those who participated in the Q+A. Some of the requests from the fans were old or rare enough that Art couldn’t quite remember how all of them went, so only snippets were possible. But it made for laughs and unique moments that aren’t possible with a traditional Everclear performance.

The Sun Songs album is now available for purchase and streaming. Solo dates continue in the states continue in November, and can be found here: https://www.everclearmusic.com/tour
