Today, buzzing 20-year-old pop singer-songwriter Conan Gray debuted a new single and music video entitled “Comfort Crowd” via Republic Records.
“I wrote “Comfort Crowd” during a particularly lonely part of my past year.” Conan comments on the new single, “I had just moved away to college, and all my friends were back home in Texas. I just really needed some company, that kinda company that didn’t require attention. That kinda company with someone who you’re so close to, you don’t need to say a single word to fill the “uncomfortable” silence”
Conan continues about the music video, “I knew I wanted the video to evoke that mood; being alone with someone. Almost like spending time with yourself— so that’s how the video was born. I think that anyone in their adolescence can relate to feeling like they’re constantly having to kill themselves off and rebuild from scratch, so I wanted to make commentary on that theme as well. That’s what I wrote “Comfort Crowd” about.”
This fall Conan returns to the road for his next North American headline, “The Comfort Crowd” Tour. The six-week run kicks off October 29 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO, with stops in major markets across the country including New York’s Terminal 5 on November 12th, and concludes with a three-night stand at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA December 11-13.
