2019 is only half over, but it must feel like a dream for local Butler-area country singer, Gary Burk III. So far, Burk has had his latest single, “Friday Night” appearing on nationally recognized airplay charts. The song also hit the iTunes Top 20 country songs chart in Canada. His music has even been showing up on local jukeboxes. As of this release, “Friday Night” has been streamed over 20,000 times on Spotify. He is about to head to Memphis and Nashville for a series of interviews, performances, and TV appearances.

Now, Gary Burk III is happy to announce he has been chosen as one of twelve contestants in the 2019 “Pittsburgh Idol” competition. Contestants were selected from video performance entries that, according to the official contest rules, “best represent a high-quality voice and good showmanship video. Winners will be selected by a panel of Station employees who will evaluate and compare the Video Submissions.” Burk will now perform at Kennywood during WTAE’s “SummerFest.” The winner of the contest will audition in front of “American Idol” executive producers, with a shot at appearing on the popular show.

“I feel honored to be selected as one of the people to represent Pittsburgh!” said Burk. “It’s a great feeling to have this community on my side!! I can’t wait to see what this competition holds for me.”
