Interview: Awaiting ELI and Video “Unfiltered” April 17th, 2019

Band: Awaiting ELI
Interviewed by: Dave Safley
What are you and your band members names and instruments played? Eric Tomes – front man guitars vocals  Bobby Braz – lead guitars  Carlos Garcia – bass and back up vocals Justin Essink – drums
How did you come up with your band name, What does it mean? The name was in place when I joined the group but the meaning has over time come to reach new heights within ourselves and be the best people we can be.
Describe your sound. Our sound is like a modern day Alice In Chains meets filter meets stone temple pilots w a little twist of limp bizkit in there.
Who are your favorite musicians? Groups? CDs? Shoot the list could go on but Sevendust, bring me the horizon, obviously Alice In Chains filter stp dust for life submersed dark new day. There are literally hundreds. Lol
How’s The Tour Going, who are you touring with? Visit our web site to check tour dates. We are actually just gearing up to get back on the road. Being off the road has sucked let’s just say that but it was well needed to get this album done right.
What’s Your Songwriting Process? Sit down w a guitar and start jamming ideas out. Make sense of a chorus riff and find a verse riff to flow with.  Write a bridge or solo part as well and figure out meshing it all together. I usually freestyle vocals until I find something I really like to fit the song and how it makes me feel. Then change words as needed.
What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Just having the money to break us out and pay for the buy on and radio etc. cost a lot these days. That’s about the biggest challenge I would say.
How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Any social media site or YouTube you look us up we’ll be there. Or AwaitingEli.com
What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands? Do it for the love the business is gritty. Unless your down for that ride.  It’s a war out here
Any last words? Can’t wait to see all of our old fans and meet new fans when we get back out there.
