A review on Verkligheten, the eleventh studio album from Sweden’s Soilwork.
Soilwork is a Swedish heavy metal band from Helsingborg. Formed in late 1995 by Björn Strid and Peter Wichers, originally under the name Inferior Breed, the band changed their name in late 1996 to Soilwork (meaning “working from the ground up”).
Verkligheten (English: Reality) is the upcoming eleventh studio album by Swedish heavy metal band Soilwork, to be released on 11 January 2019 via Nuclear Blast. It is the first album to feature drummer Bastian Thusgaard as the replacement of longtime member Dirk Verbeuren. The album’s release will also mark the longest gap between Soilwork studio albums to date, with their previous album, The Ride Majestic, having been released nearly three and a half years earlier.

Overall, Verkligheten is just dark enough in tone for both the heavy and melodic style while being a lot of fun to listen to. Speed sounds great on this album and there is enough volume in the right parts for you to enjoy several tracks to go back to for several replays. Listen to this album for the fantastic build in the melody and rhythm. Enjoy that we live in reality where good metal can still be made from reliable long-time bands.
