Touring North America for the first time in 18 years, UK band The The came to Brooklyn, NY on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Matt Johnson recruited guitarist Barrie Cadogan, keyboardist DC Collard, bassist James Eller, and drummer Earl Harvin for their tour called “2018 Comeback Special.”

For their Brooklyn show, The The were supported by another long running act, Elysian Fields. Oren Bloedow and Jennifer Charles’ band released a record this year called Pink Air

The The took the stage at 9PM and performed for nearly two hours including a three song encore. Matt told anecdotes before introducing certain songs such as addressing rapid development in both East London and New York or sneaking past a security guard who was watching the Superbowl in the Chrysler building to stand on one of the gargoyles while filming the video for “I Saw The Light.” Their setlist pulled from their extensive catalog and included some of their most well known songs, such as “This is the Day” and “Uncertain Smile.”

The The is working on new music which will be their first new record since 2000’s NakedSelf. The 2018 Comeback Special tour continues tonight (Monday, September 17th) with another New York show at Beacon Theatre in Manhattan.
