Gallery & Review: The Dead Daisies at The Forge – 8/17/18 Joliet, IL.

The Dead Daisies are back on the road in North America, supporting their recent album, BURN IT DOWN.

The band is quickly establishing itself as one of the hardest working in rock. They tour frequently, often playing multiple nights in a row…the current tour packs approximately 24 shows in the span of a month. And the Daisies tour isn’t just about showtime at night. Each day usually includes a local radio station appearance for an interview and acoustic performance, and then they follow that up with another acoustic performance for fans at any local Guitar Center store. And if that wasn’t enough, each evening’s performance is topped off by a free Meet ‘n’ Greet for fans at the venue. It all adds up to a hectic pace for a band committed to bringing their brand of rock to the people.

The Dead Daisies brought said rock to their fans in Illinois with a show at Joliet’s The Forge on August 17th. The band played a lengthy set that relied heavily on music from their last two albums (see setlist below), which features the group’s current lineup…with the exception of new Drummer, Dean Castronovo, who joined for the recording of BURN IT DOWN. Mr. Castronovo is a welcome addition to the Daisies, bringing with him a fierce groove, strong backing vocals, a bright smile and an upbeat personality. Consequently, he has meshed seamlessly with the vibe musically, as well as personally.

The Dead Daisies performance at The Forge was notable for how tight the group was, despite it only being the second night of the tour. The band ripped through close to two hours of music that had equal parts grunt and finesse, topped off with Singer, John Corabi’s, personable delivery that sought to bridge the gap between the gentleman on the stage and the fans that stood before them. The evening also featured a special moment, as the band took a break from the proceedings to celebrate the aforementioned Castronovo’s birthday, with a cake, candles, and Happy Birthday serenade.

The Dead Daisies are on tour through 9/16/18, followed by a short break before setting sail on the KISS Kruise on Halloween. Band info can be found here:
