Los Angeles band L7 disbanded in 2001 to return in 2015 and will release their first new record since 1999 in 2018 on Don Giovanni Records. A documentary on the band was released last year (Pretend We’re Dead) and Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner, Jennifer Finch, and Dee Plakas returned to New York for a show at Brooklyn Steel on Thursday, April 12th (the last time they played NYC was at Irving Plaza during their 2015 reunion). The band played a stellar 90 minute set consisting of songs both old and new (“I Came Back To Bitch,” “Dispatch from Mar-a-Lago,” “Andres,” “Slide,” “Freak Magnet,” and “Pretend We’re Dead.”) plus a three song encore. L7 are currently running a Pledge Music campaign for their new record and more information can be found about it here. Fellow LA band, Death Valley Girls, opened the show.
