Visionary sci-fi rock band Starset returned to New York City on January 31st, for the first wave of the 2018 Immersion Tour. Incorporating a self-deployed mobile app, Starset aims to create an augmented reality concert experience on this tour. “At the beginning of the show a rocket comes and hovers over the stage if you’re using the Starset reality app. For the rest of the show, there’s a constellation and planetary system in the ceiling of the venue — you can watch us and film us,” frontman Dustin Bates stated in an interview with Loudwire.
Whether or not you download the app, it isn’t hard to get lost in the out of the world performance Starset unleashes on its fans. With an intensity that’s only grown exponentially since the release of the bands’ sophomore album VESSELS, Starset’s live shows are truly cathartic experience.
