His Dream of Lions Release New Single “Swingin”

Rock/alternative group His Dream of Lions wrapped up 2017 with the announcement of their new EP Pseudo Star, out February 16th, 2018 and a music video for “Love Me Like I’m Sick,” paying homage to glam rock bands like Queen. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Ben Green at Ivakota Studios, Pseudo Star showcases the band’s unique sound through five-infectiously catch tracks. Today, His Dream of Lions has teamed up with idobi Radio to release their second single off the EP, “Swingin.” The ‘moral of the story’ moment for the band’s upcoming EP, “Swingin” was originally written with a playful jazzy feel while the finished result is jam packed with snappy handclaps driven by a beat that is sure to have you moving. On the single, the band’s lead singer Seth Coggeshall shares:

“We made Pseudo Star as a way of capturing a unique moment in our band’s life, and in order to do that we had to rise up to the challenge of writing, recording, and releasing a record in a relatively short amount of time. There’s a lot of uncertainty that comes with a challenge like that, and it’s easy to get stuck in your head with fears of being inadequate or failing. However, we had to suppress our own anxieties,  get out of our heads a little, and act. So for us “Swingin” encapsulates the instinct that fueled this record. It’s about fighting the good fight, even if it’s against yourself. Swinging unafraid of the fact that you might miss.”

Virginia four-piece His Dream of Lions was formed in 2012 and is comprised of Seth Coggeshall (vocals), Nick Jones (lead guitar), Colby Witko (keyboard), and Justin Mason (bass). Integrating ripping guitars, stacked harmonies, and all the bombast associated with rock groups like Queen, My Chemical Romance, and Fall Out Boy, His Dream of Lions create a unique sound as they aim to bridge the gap between pop and rock. The band’s name stems from Ernest Hemingway’s novel, “The Old Man and The Sea,” as the moral intent of the main character’s reoccurring dreams represents His Dream of Lions’ mission to be reminded of the ambitious spirit they promise never to lose.

Over the years, His Dream of Lions has built an impressive online following through their critically acclaimed videos including “Danger Close,” off their 2015 self-titled EP which premiered on Fuse’s FM TV and was featured in Journey’s locations across the country. With their commanding and hard hitting live show, the band has gone on to share the stage with artists including Aaron Carter, Jonny Craig, There For Tomorrow, Assuming We Survive, and Hang Tight in addition to finishing the East Coast to Midwest leg on the 2017 Vans Warped Tour. Now His Dream of Lions has returned with their newest EP, Pseudo Star, an introspective look at twenty something angst inspired by the glamorous pop of the 1980s. As front man Seth Coggeshall describes the record, “Every EP we’ve made so far has seen us move closer and closer to our own unique aesthetic, both visually and sonically. To me Psuedo Star is the most realized version of His Dream Of Lions. We are not only reaching into the history of classic rock for inspiration, but claiming some of the more interesting aspects of modern pop music as well.”

Head to idobi Radio to stream “Swingin.” His Dream of Lions’ new EP Pseudo Star will be available February 16th, 2018. In addition, the band is heading out on the road in support of Pseudo Star, dates below.
