Sarah Ragsdale has just released 10 delightful tracks entitled Whimsical Romance This collection of songs is about that romantic story called life, and the ups and downs that come along with it. Based on true stories, mixed with some fantastical exaggerations, this is a fun and playful album of the vast array of emotions that come along with relationships. Written at various stages throughout Sarah’s life, you will find raw stories that she tried and tested at the piano, with audience involvement on many of her appearances and tours.
Feelings range from happiness and pure bliss like in the song “This Kiss”, which has a delightful video starring her adorable dog, to a character of craziness and denial in “Next Time”storytelling through pop, jazz, and folk influences, culminating into her own unique Ragstime style (as she calls it) It is delightful and you feel like you are sitting in a piano bar with her as she tinkles the ivories.
Her gorgeous alto voice ranges from whimsical and joy-filled “Wedding Day” to contemplative “Man Of The Sea” where she talks about her sailor man.
She shows off her capable playing skills on “Ragstime” which is a homage to Scott Joplin and of course includes her own nod to the late great godfather of ragtime by weaving “The Entertainer” in. It’s not lost on us that Sarah is an amazing ragtime player and her name is Ragsdale – coincidence? we think not!
