One of the good things of the Portuguese summer is that you often get free music shows at traditional fairs taking place all over the country. And oftentimes, some very good new artists like Isaura surprise you. Isaura performed her first show of the year last Saturday night at Festas de Carcavelos e Parede.
Imagine a crossover between Hayley Williams (Paramore) and Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine), melodic, sweet and powerful at the same time, Isaura mixes urban sounds with an array of synth and pop sensibilities to create something that is wholesomely unique.
Isaura is part of a new generation of Portuguese musicians that controls all the process of creating music, video clips and promotion. Started as many trending musicians by uploading her music on Youtube, she soon gathered great reviews on her work and was discovered as a fresh new talent.
Launching an EP Serendipity in 2015, Isaura is now preparing her first album after signing with Universal Music Portugal.
Performing songs like: “You’re All My (Heart),” “Useless,” “Lost“ or, on a sweet rendition on the keyboard, “Dancefloor“ featured in the EP, Isaura added some covers of songs like “Borrow” by Silence 4, headliner David Fonseca’s former band, “Holding Me Back” by Shawn Mendes and “Attention” by The Weeknd. With very different new music arrangements, Isaura brought on a totally different approach on these songs as if she owned them.
We could also listen to some new songs like “I Need Ya,” the first single of the new upcoming album.
Keep an eye on Isaura! Totally worth it.
