VIDEO: MD Rapper Taken the Nation by Storm with POWERFUL MESSAGEn

“I want my fans to expect the unexpected!” Known for her creative lyrical exports, versatile style and whimsical yet stimulating word play, Capri is far from ordinary. Her light voice and youthful appearance yield looks of surprise and skepticism when people discover she’s a rapper, but when she opens her mouth, any doubt about her music is transformed to assurance. “On any given day, people guess that I’m any where between the ages of 12 and 18. I don’t mind at all because after they hear me, they take my craft seriously . . . I just smile and keep moving.” Born and raised on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore in the small town of Pocomoke City, Capri was an avid listener of music at a very young age. With influences such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, MC Lyte and Doug E. Fresh, she began writing and producing her own music at the age of 12. “I believe that everybody is influenced by the music of another artist. I’m more influenced by an artists work ethic because with hard work and persistence comes greatness. Some of the greatest artists of all time are some of the hardest working people in the industry, and to see their success as a result of hard work influences me to do the same.” Along with an undying passion for writing and performing music, Capri also has a passion for television production and filmmaking. Graduating with honors, Capri earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Television & Radio Production with a minor in Music Technology from Bowie State University, located in Bowie, Maryland. Continuing to perform in showcases and school events, it was at Bowie where Capri gained much of her radio experience. She interned at local radio and television stations, and co-hosted a radio show. In continuing her education and pursuing her drive for filmmaking, Capri earned her Master of Science degree in Documentary Film Production from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) in Carbondale, Illinois, also graduating with honors. With a creative and unconventional style in music and filmmaking alike, two original documentaries, written, produced and directed by Capri were aired on PBS, receiving rave reviews. Also, while at SIUC, Capri featured in her first televised interview and concert for an original show called Studio A. Having performed at large and small venues from New York to Las Vegas, being a finalist in the top 16 of FOX’s hit show The X Factor, speaking and performing at grade schools, and receiving air play on local and international radio stations, Capri finds it extremely important to exert her passion in EVERYTHING she does. “I pride myself in having a crazy work ethic. No matter how big or small the task, I do my best or why do it all? I only hope that my fans can feel that through my music and performances.” In August of 2010, Capri released her first album entitled Capricious. It was very successful in the first few months of its release and continues to be requested by fans. More recently, on September 29, 2015, Capri celebrated the release of her sophomore album, Tailor Made Journey. Just days after it’s release, it has already been described as “inspirational, motivational, personal, evoking and it brings substance back to hip-hop.” With a relentless work ethic, unconventional style and raw talent, you can affirm that Capri is a star on the rise! She is eccentric to the world of hip-hop, so always “Expect the Unexpected.”
