Review & Gallery: Dream Theater at Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, PA 10.05.2016

Progressive rockers Dream Theater brought The Astonishing Live tour to Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, PA. The Sands was the perfect venue for this show as it is settled on the land of an old steel factory. It definitely gave a nostalgic feel to the evening. Fans from across the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area traveled to Bethlehem to catch the show.

Dream Theater consists of John Myung (bass), John Petruuci (guitar), James LaBrie (lead vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboards) and Mike Mangini (drums). Together this supergroup of musicians rocked Pennsylvania through a massive 29 song set. The stage setup was nothing short of a multimedia powerhouse. The LED screens cut into all sorts of different rectangular shapes bordered the back of the stage, with Dream Theater banners hanging from high above. The video on the screens were perfectly in sync with the music. On top of that, if that wasn’t enough, the out of the world lighting sucked you into the show and made you part of it. If you are a fan of guitars like I am or a guitar geek in general, there’s a fanboy that will come out of you while watching the master himself, John Petrucci play. His perfect technique and soloing will make you want to pick up your guitar again, hoping one day you’ll be able to achieve his level of greatness.

All in all, this is a fantastic show from every angle. With the great production and musicianship, it really does not get any better than this.
