THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES Announces Additional Shows at the Santa Monica Pier for 2016

THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES–Southern California’s largest free concert series at the Santa Monica Pier–has just announced the full line-up for their 32nd annual season presented by Snapchat.  Legendary R&B singer Mavis Staples and Houston soul band The Suffers are confirmed for August 18 and leading Australian dance acts Rufus Du Sol and Marc Baker are locked in for August 18.  Beyond these two final announcements, the bill features a few additions to already announced headliners.  Cibo Matto have been added to 8/25 Save Ferris for a night of 90’s alt female-fronted favorites; buzzy Coachella first-timer and LA local Dre Babinski known as Steady Holiday has been added to the September 1 Unknown Mortal Orchestra date; and synth pop duo Holy Ghost! join the September 8 night with Ohio Players for a multigenerational disco dance party to close the summerThese mark the latest additions to a line-up that already boasts performances from Mayer Hawthorne, Børns, The Psychedelic Furs, Protoje & The Indiggnation, Natalia Lafourcade, Save Ferris, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and more.

Mayer Hawthorne with Alina Baraz and a DJ set from KCRW DJ Jason Bentley kick the series off July 7.  The annual ten-week succession of concerts run every Thursday from 7:00-10:00 PM through September 8 at the iconic Santa Monica Pier.  Known as one of the premier free concert series throughout the U.S., the annual genre-crossing line-up offers musical exploration to guests at one of the most iconic beaches in America.  Each week, THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES will include two acts and nod to a specific musical genre.  The complete 2016 TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES line-up is as follows:

JULY 21: The Psychedelic Furs with Day Wave, Hosted by KCRW DJ Marion Hodges

AUGUST 4: Natalia Lafourcade with Monsieur Perine, Hosted by KCRW DJ Raul Campos

New this year, an official partnership with Snapchat, who will be collaborating with The Pier to bring a myriad of new experiences to THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES.  In addition to Snapchat, other feature partners to join the party for 2016 include Boulevard Brewing Company, Loews Hotel, OneWest Bank, Deep Eddy Vodka, and series streaming partner TuneIn.  And media partners for the series will be public radio station KCRW, Alt 98.7FM LA’s New Alternative, LA Weekly, DoLA, and Flood Magazine.

Additionally, getting to THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES this year will be easier than ever with the opening of the new Expo train line running from Union Station through West Los Angeles to Santa Monica, making travel to the venue a seamless experience.  The city has become closer, enabling music fans easier access to the Santa Monica PierTHE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES for the first time ever on public rail.  Beyond the rail line, Breeze (the City of Santa Monica’s public bike share program), a variety of ride share services and public lots throughout Santa Monica, offer a choice of options for those planning to attend the series.

The Twilight Concert Series is a co-production of the Santa Monica Pier Corp. and RH&S Concerts.  2016 media partners include KCRW and Alt 98.7 (LA’s Alternative).
