Watch Flume’s video for “Never Be Like You” feat Kai

Flume’s video for “Never Be Like You” featuring Kai, directed by Clemens Habicht, is premiering today. Watch the video, which stars Australian actors Sophie Lowe and Sam Reid along with a cameo from Flume himself below. “Never Be Like You” is the first track to be released from Flume’s highly anticipated new album Skin, coming later this year on Mom + Pop.

Conceived by the director in response to Kai’s affecting lyrics, Habicht says, “It is the story of an emotional state—the delicious euphoric pleasure that motivates the sort of mistakes that precede remorse. In a confused state a girl loses control as she gives in to a delirious beautiful and grotesque abandon that blurs the boundaries between reality, sensation and perception as the world she is in melts away. It was a absolute pleasure to work with Sophie, Sam and Harley.”

Now the #1 single on the Australian ARIA chart—a first for Flume, “Never Be Like You” has been streamed more than 21 million times since release after premiering as Annie Mac’s “hottest record in the world” on BBC Radio 1. The track reached #1 on Spotify’s worldwide Viral chart, as well as #1 on the U.S. Viral chart and Viral Hits. It is the #10 most streamed track on SoundCloud globally and maintained a steady #1 on Hype Machine.

“Smoke & Retribution,” featuring Long Beach rapper Vince Staples and experimental Australian vocalist Kučka, recently premiered via Beats 1.

In addition to previously announced dates at Coachella and Hangout, the acclaimed Australian artist/producer will headline Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks on August 18. Tickets are available now at flu.me.

Since the 2012 release of his self-titled debut, Flume has become one of the first artists to top 200 million Soundcloud plays and has reached more than 366 million streams on Spotify. The New York Times’ Ben Sisario praises Flume’s “darkly textured electronic songs with a soulful edge.”

Flume is 24-year-old Australian producer Harley Streten. After releasing his debut in Australia in November 2012 on Future Classic, Flume experienced wildfire success winning 2013’s Triple J Award for Australian Album of the Year and four ARIA Awards for Producer of the Year, Best Male, Breakthrough Artist and Best Dance Release. He has since gone on to tour extensively worldwide including headlining Paris’ Rock En Seine for over 40,000 fans and sold-out, multi-night runs in New York, Los Angeles, London and Berlin.
