The infectious track has caught the attention of many after it made its debut with YourEDM, who coined the single, “brilliant through and through.” On Friday, The Walking Sticks is thrilled to have partnered with Paste Magazine for the exclusive premiere of the official music video for “The News,” which can be seen here. The video for “The News” was directed by Rachel Couch and filmed/edited by Allison Korotkin. Here is what The Walking Sticks had to say about the video:
“We wanted to make a video that showcases our live aesthetic. We program lights for our live show to fit the vibes we feel for each song.” ~ Max, Spencer, Chelsea
The Walking Sticks, originally founded by twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst, became a fully formed dream/synth pop outfit with the addition of long-time friend and collaborator Chelsea Lee in 2013. Together, the trio blend their vocal harmonies, music composition prowess, and love of ’80s dance music into catchy, sonically captivating songs. The trio’s latest single, “The News” perfectly encapsulates their lyric and beat-driven style. Blending Lee’s striking voice with the twin’s bold trip hop instrumentation make for the perfect uptempo track to guide you through a fever dream or to push you past your comfort zone and onto the dance floor. “The News” was written by the trio, produced by the Ernst brothers, and mixed and mastered by Joe Benny (Secret Panda Society).
